happy birthday to my little man!

Jake is 8. I can't believe it. I had no problem turning 30 last year, but having my son turn 8 is giving me heart palpitations. There is so much new stuff. Cub scouts, with the shirts and sewing of the badges. The pinewood derby (jake and brent are already hard at work). BAPTISM, the faith in god book. He keeps getting all these books with things to do in them that should help him become a mature, spiritual, contributing member of society; but I can't keep up. Lucky for me, he is a smart kid and generally pretty self-motivated. I am getting the jitters with all of this change.

We had a party for him on Saturday. It seemed to go well. It was really great being able to have it at home and actually having the space for it. The party was a sports theme. They mostly played basketball, foosball, and air hockey. There was a pinata that Jake and I made together. (It broke on the first hit. Note to self: homemade pinatas stink.) And of course, cake and ice cream. Some pix:

Look at Allison acting like the queen of the party. Where were her parents?!

Happy Birthday Jake! I love the baseball pinata - I'll just add it to your list of many talents! I love Elijah and Allison's blue tongues!
